Rental Terms
Every vehicle rental is governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle in Leeds, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions can differ based on the vehicle type, with possible extra fees for drivers under 25. You need a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional requirements may apply as stated in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Leeds office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The total payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection in Leeds, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed as part of this process. You are expected to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account reasonable wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and charges will be applied accordingly. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; otherwise, refueling fees will be incurred. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please notify us promptly if you foresee a delay. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the advance notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities, including racing or off-roading, as well as for transporting hazardous materials. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, ensure that you do not exceed the designated passenger or weight limits, and do not operate the vehicle outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Leeds will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount paid within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law in Leeds
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Terms Updates
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
